San Fran – For those interested, the ISSC is sending down 3 teams to San Fran the weekend of May 16th to play in a sevens tournament. We are sending a ladies, gents and mixed hurling team. We are currently looking for more numbers to bolster the teams so have a look at the attached pdf for more info and let us know if your interested. It should be a good weekend for all.
Football training continues as normal this Friday at Capilano Rugby club. This starts at 6.30 with training for both ladies and gents on. This should be our last Friday training as we will be moving to mid week training next week. More info will follow. As usual, the Black Frog in Gastown will be the venue for a few sociable beverages after training.
Hurling training continues this Sunday at Strahacona at the earlier time of 11.30. This was well attended last Sunday with enough numbers to play a strong game. The more the merrier and will make training more enjoyable. Also any ladies interested in playing please attend as we are currently pushing to get a ladies team together.
In contact sports such as Gaelic Football & Hurling, injuries requiring hospital treatment are inevitable.
It is therefore essential that all members are insured to at least BC Care Card level or similar approved.
The ISSC does not carry personal injury insurance and will not/can not currently cover medical expenses for players injured while taking part.
(Anyone with a previous/recurring sports injury should also check that they are covered to play sport and for further treatment paid by their insurance company, if the injury should occur again)
It is a requirement that you have adequate personal insurance cover if you intend to play for the club.
Starting Monday April 27, Monday night training will be in New Westminster at Queens Park 7pm-8:30pm, we will be between baseball diamonds #2 and #3, on the “South Fieldâ€.
Until further notice, Friday night training will continue at Capilano Rugby pitch in North Vancouver, until our downtown Thursday night location becomes available.
In other exciting news, Ronan Matthews has agreed to take on the role of coaching the ladies this year. Ronan has various experiences in coaching at various levels (which I will let Ronan expand on himself) so it is very exciting to have him on board. Thanks Ronan. Also, Vinny Crowley will be returning on Monday nights to assist Ronan. Ronan will be at training both tonight and Monday night, could I please ask as many of you as possible to try your best to attend training on either (or both) of these nights. Ronan would like to meet and talk to everyone.
If anyone has friends, family, work colleagues, acquantances etc who may be interested in becoming part of our team, please bring them along, everyone is welcome and we can never have too many people.
Any questions or queries relating to the ladies team can be directed to Mel Fisher at firstname.lastname@example.org
Keep an eye on the Vancouver Harps Ladies Football Team Page
There will be the first official hurling training this Sunday at 1:30pm at Strathcona park. Everybody is welcome and its a good way to spend an hour or two on a Sunday afternoon.
If people can not make it but would be interested in attending another day then can you please let me know. It would be great to get as many people as possible out as it makes training more enjoyable.
We have a large selection of hurleys as well this year so there will be not shortage like last year.
So hope to see you all there on Sunday, if you have any questions email email@example.com
