2011 was the 36th anniversary of the ISSC and it was an extremely successful year both on and off the field.

The year kicked off with a seven-a-side, mixed football league. Our Vancouver Gaelic Games day on June 25th was a local affair showcasing the skills and strength of numbers in the Vancouver area. The Western Canadian Championship was held over a single long weekend in Calgary this year and the Vancouver Harps men’s team retained their Western Canadian crown with the Celts performing really well, just losing out at the semi-final stage. The year was rounded off in style as the ISSC entered 5 teams (2 football, 2 hurling & 1 ladies football) in the North American Championships held in San Francisco on Labor weekend. 91 players in total traveled and at the end of the weekend the club had secured two titles; Ladies Intermediate Shield and Men’s Intermediate Championship.

The ISSC hopes to build on the great successes of recent years in order to grow the club to an even brighter future. We rely heavily on the efforts and support of our committee members and sponsors to achieve this.

We are inviting you to volunteer or nominate others via email for the following positions:

Executive Board
Vice – President
Committee Members
Social Rep.
Ladies Football Rep.
Men’s Football Rep.
Hurling Rep.
Web Saavy person to update the ISSC Website – (possibly redesign it)
Committee Members at large.

In order to continue the success the ISSC has enjoyed over the past few of years there is a need for our members to take as active a role as possible in the club’s operation and growth. With new Irish arriving in Vancouver every day many will be looking to join the local GAA club and continue playing Gaelic Football and Hurling. This is both an opportunity and a challenge for the club. What will our response be???

We ask that all members make every effort to attend and actively participate in this year’s AGM.
